Lawson & Associates is a full-service safety solutions provider, a certified woman/veteran-owned business, and a State of Hawaii DOT Disadvantaged Business. We are located in the State of Hawaii, 2019 SBA Small Businessperson of the Year - Honolulu, and 2019 Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics - State of Hawaii Winner (Tier 2 Business).
Founded in 2009, we specialize in occupational safety and health across the State of Hawaii. We provide a full scope of safety services, including onsite safety staffing, safety training, safety litigation support, safety auditing services, and safety program management and development. Our staff is board-certified and field-experienced. We currently service private and government construction projects, project owners, and developers and also provide Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) oversight, warehousing, and manufacturing. We conduct training for all industries such as hospitality, warehousing, construction, facilities and maintenance, and city, state, and federal entities. We also perform insurance audits and litigation support by request.
We value human capital sustainability. Human capital impacts the total of organizational culture, knowledge, experience, talent, attitudes, intellectual property, and labor resources available to an organization or community. While many organizations value their people, many do not manage or measure human capital in sustainable terms. Safety Intelligence (SQ) emphasizes safety management systems to enhance human capital sustainability. We founded the Safety Intelligence Institute to provide training in Occupational Safety and Health to help people go home safely to their families at the end of the workday.

Meet Tracy
TRACY LAWSON, President & Founder
Tracy has over 30 years’ experience in the occupational safety & health field. She has a bachelor of science degree in occupational safety and health and maintains several certifications, including being a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Safety & Health Trainer (CIT), Safety and Management Systems Auditor (CPEA), and Certified Safety Executive (WSO-CSE).
In 2003, Tracy was named Safety Professional of the Year by the American Society of Safety Engineers Hawaii Chapter and received a Letter of Commendation from Governor Lingle for being a named one of the Pacific Business News Top 40 Under Forty business professionals in the State of Hawaii. In 2010, Tracy was recognized as the Honor Alumni of the Honolulu Community College Occupational Environmental Safety and Health Program. In 2015, Tracy was a finalist for the PBN Women Who Mean Business Award and recipient of the PBN Small Business Leadership Hawaii Award. Tracy is a 2018 graduate of the Honolulu Small Business Administration Emerging Leaders Program and 2019 Small Business Administration Person of the Year for the County of Honolulu.
Tracy’s safety experience ranges from being a U.S. Army Military Police Corps Traffic Accident Investigator, a construction small business Safety Director, a Vice President of a national general contractor, and a business owner. During her tenure at Dick Pacific Construction, her safety program led the company to be recognized as one of America’s 17 Safest Companies in the October 2002 Occupational Hazards Magazine, recipient of the 2001 Associated General Contractors of America National Construction Safety Excellence Grand Award and First Place in Building for 500,000 + man-hours and the 2000 U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Worldwide Contractor of the Year.
Since 2005, Tracy has been a staff instructor for the OSHA Training Institute Hawaii Extension through the University of California San Diego where she is authorized to teach a variety of construction and general industry courses.
In 2009, Tracy opened Lawson & Associates, a woman, veteran-owned, State of Hawaii DOT disadvantaged business enterprise specializing in occupational safety and health. Lawson & Associates is the largest occupational safety and health support services firm in the State of Hawaii with full-time, experienced, certified and degreed local safety professionals who specialize in assisting small, medium and large businesses achieve efficiency in operations through a well-managed safety and risk program. 2010-2023, Tracy and her firm were the Safety and Security Support Services provider to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) on the $12 billion-dollar Honolulu Rapid Transit project.
NALANI JENKINS, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Nalani has over 30-years of business experience in management, finance and marketing and currently oversees Lawson’s operating systems and programs, finance, and digital communication strategies. Her former experience as a commercial banker and financial analyst, Sr. VP of a public relations firm, and owner/manager of record labels and entertainment management companies provides a unique background from which to support Lawson’s strategic vision and growth.
Nalani has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Denver and a master’s degree in organizational leadership: strategic innovation and change from University of Denver. Nalani is a 2019 recipient of the esteemed O’o Award by the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, 2001 Pacific Business News 40 Under Forty business professionals in the State of Hawaii, a multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, and has been featured on the cover of Hawaii Business Magazine and MidWeek.
Since 2015, Nalani has focused on elevating Lawson’s mission, goals, and innovative approaches to safety management systems with management, marketing and communications. Nalani and Tracy also co-own www.721llc.com, a local marketing and communications company that works with owners and developers while supporting Hawaiian cultural practitioners and Hawaiian values.

The team of safety professionals at Lawson & Associates averages 20 full-time staff members specializing in various aspects of Occupational Safety and Risk Management. We employ only the highest grade and most professional staff.
Our staff members are Board Certified and hold various credentials awarded by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer, Construction Health & Safety Technician, and Safety Trained Supervisor. Our qualified safety staff hold various safety certifications including, Construction Risk & Insurance Specialist, Certified Safety & Health Professional, Certified Professional Environmental Auditor: Health & Safety, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician, Traffic Control Supervisor, and Flagger Instructors. We pride ourselves on our rigorous continuing education requirements knowing our staff is trained to the most current safety practices.
